India’s party planning market is worth a staggering $12.8 Bn.

Parties in India are no longer simple and subtle. With rising disposable incomes among the upper middle-class, the lifestyle aspirations of today’s urban strata are high too, which has made the party planning and event management market as huge as $12.8 billion industry.

Bakers and confectioners, florists, decorators, fashion designers, event managers, greeting card companies, caterers, makeup artists, lights and sound guys and artists such as DJs, comedians, guitarists, are all regularly cashing in on the flourishing party planning market.

The Indian bakery market accounts to Rs 16,500 Crore, of which the cake market is at 2,000 Crores. The florist industry is growing at 28% annually, thanks to Indian floral parties and weddings. The catering industry is catching up at 20%. The urban middle class, a 267 Million strong population, no longer restricts itself to birthdays or anniversaries but celebrates Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Baby Shower, Kitty Parties, Corporate Parties, Bachelors parties and other regional occasions with equal vigour.

While vendors, merchants and entertainers are benefitting from the growing party market, the problem is that a particular vendor or entertainer is unable to focus on a specific area of the city. This may end up not fetching them as many customers as are looking for them in their vicinity, thus losing out on a major chunk of business. The organised party planning market also poses a big problem for the unorganised market as it devours a major chunk of the consumer base.

The unorganised market needs a platform where they can organise their business and profit by getting more customers. Such organised merchants and entertainers need to join hands with a technology enabled platform like Clappily, which is a marketplace for merchants and entertainers to reach a wider mass and boost their business. Clappily is a marketplace for merchants and consumers available on Android and iOSIt also becomes a single destination for varied party needs that customers may have.
